Finland Unlimited eSIM — Daily Data with Always-On Connection

Boarding pass scanned, four-hour layover in Helsinki, then a train to Tampere with three browser tabs that absolutely cannot wait until hotel Wi-Fi. The Finland Unlimited eSIM from eSIMno gives you 1 GB of high-speed data every day—and when that runs out, your connection drops to 128 Kbps instead of dying completely. Slower, yes—but maps still load and messages still send.

How to Get Your eSIM

  1. Purchase and Receive
Complete your order and receive the eSIM QR code instantly via email. No physical SIM card to collect or post to track.
  2. Scan the QR Code
Go to your device's eSIM settings and scan the code. You can install before departure—the validity clock starts when you first connect to a Finnish network.
  3. Enable Data Roaming
Once in Finland, enable data roaming in your settings and select the eSIM as your data line. Connection typically activates within moments.
  4. Stay Connected
Use your 1 GB daily allowance at full speed. If you exceed it, the connection slows but never stops—maps and messages keep working.

How the Unlimited Plan Works

Each calendar day you receive 1 GB of high-speed data on the Alcom, DNA or Elisa networks. Use it for browsing, navigation, uploads, video calls—whatever fits within that allowance. The moment you exceed 1 GB, your speed drops to 128 Kbps for the remainder of that day.

At 128 Kbps, the connection stays alive. You can load map tiles (slowly), send and receive WhatsApp or Telegram messages, check email and refresh low-bandwidth apps. What you cannot do is stream video, make VoIP calls or transfer large files in any reasonable time. The daily allowance resets at 00:00 UTC—that is a fixed moment in UTC, not midnight where you are, so check your phone's UTC offset if you plan around it.

This is a data-only plan. There is no Finnish phone number, no ability to make or receive traditional calls, and no SMS. If you need a working number for local bookings or two-factor authentication, consider the Finland Voice plan instead, which includes calls and texts.

Connected on the Move

128 Kbps keeps your messages flowing even after the daily gigabyte is gone.

Is This Plan Right for You?

This plan fits when: You have a short trip (one to seven days) with unpredictable usage—layovers, trains, early mornings, late arrivals. You want a safety net that never cuts out entirely. You rely on maps, messaging and email more than streaming or video calls. You prefer not to track megabytes and would rather accept a slowdown than an overage.

Consider a standard data plan when: Your trip exceeds seven days—the longest Unlimited option. You consistently need more than 1 GB per day at full speed for video conferencing or large uploads. You want a fixed total allowance you can ration across your trip rather than daily resets. For longer validity or higher single-bucket allowances, visit the Finland page to compare fixed data bundles.

Neither option includes calls or SMS. This is data for apps that run over the internet. If you need a Finnish number, the Voice plan family is the one to explore.

Traveller Tips

  • Download offline maps for Helsinki, Turku or wherever you are headed—they load faster at full speed and remain usable if you slip into 128 Kbps mode.
  • The daily reset happens at 00:00 UTC, not local midnight. Know your UTC offset so you can anticipate when your high-speed allowance returns.
  • At 128 Kbps, disable auto-play videos and image-heavy feeds; switch messaging apps to low-data mode to keep conversations responsive.
  • This eSIM cannot be refilled or extended. If your trip changes and you need more days, purchase a fresh bundle before the current one expires.
  • Set your eSIM as the data line only; keep your home SIM active for any calls or SMS you still want to receive via Wi-Fi calling.
  • Finland's trains and airports often have free Wi-Fi—use it for heavy downloads and save your high-speed quota for places without coverage.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Your connection stays active but slows to 128 Kbps until the next daily reset. At that speed, maps, messaging apps and email still work. Video streaming and VoIP calls do not function well.
The allowance resets at 00:00 UTC. That is a fixed moment in UTC, not midnight where you are, so check your phone's UTC offset if you plan around it.
No. The Finland Unlimited eSIM cannot be refilled or extended. Once your validity ends, the line closes and you would need to purchase a new plan.
No. This is a data-only plan with no phone number, no calls and no SMS. If you need voice or text capability, consider a voice-enabled plan instead.
Yes, though map tiles load more slowly. Downloading offline maps while you still have high-speed data makes navigation much smoother if you later drop to 128 Kbps.
The longest Finland Unlimited plan is 7 days. If your trip is longer, standard Finland data plans offer extended validity periods and may suit your needs better.

Seamless global eSIM coverage

Get Started
The Finland Unlimited eSIM delivers 1 GB of high-speed data every calendar day. Once you cross that threshold, the connection slows to 128 Kbps rather than cutting you off. At that reduced speed, navigation apps, messaging platforms and email remain functional—video streaming and voice-over-IP calls do not. This is data only: no phone number, no calls, no SMS capability. This plan suits travellers who need reliable connectivity across a single intense day or a short trip packed with transit, layovers and waiting rooms. If your usage pattern involves moderate browsing, occasional uploads and staying reachable through messaging apps, the daily reset keeps you covered without overage anxiety. For trips longer than seven days, or for travellers who need substantial daily throughput for video calls or large file transfers, the standard Finland data plans offer higher fixed allowances over longer validity periods. The daily allowance resets at 00:00 UTC—that is a fixed moment in UTC, not midnight where you are, so check your phone's UTC offset if you plan around it. Once your chosen validity expires, the line closes permanently; there is no option to refill or extend it. Plan your purchase to match your actual travel window, and if your trip runs longer than a week, consider a standard data bundle instead.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Find helpful information to answer your questions

Are there any hidden fees or extra charges?
No. The price you see at checkout is the total price - no activation fees, no hidden taxes, no roaming surcharges. Your data plan is fixed-price, and you'll never receive a surprise bill from your home carrier as long as you keep cellular data off on your home SIM.
Is the eSIM connection secure?
eSIM connections are as secure as standard cellular connections - encrypted by the carrier network. For added security on public networks (cafes, airports), use a VPN. The eSIM profile itself is digitally signed and can't be cloned like a physical SIM.
Can I use the eSIM for my smartwatch?
Some smartwatches (Apple Watch Cellular, Samsung Galaxy Watch LTE) support eSIM, but they typically require a plan from your home carrier rather than a travel eSIM. eSIMno plans are designed for phones and tablets - check device compatibility before purchase if you intend to use a wearable.
Can I buy an eSIM for someone else as a gift?
Yes. Purchase the eSIM with your own details, then forward your order confirmation email - or share the "Install eSIM" link from it - with the recipient so they can install it on their own phone (the email contains the QR code and the manual SM-DP+ / activation codes). Make sure their device is eSIM-compatible first - installation usually cannot be reversed once completed.
Can I tether or use Personal Hotspot with my eSIM?
Yes. Your eSIMno plan supports tethering and Personal Hotspot at no extra charge. Activate the Personal Hotspot feature in your device settings and connect other devices as you would with any cellular plan. Data used while tethering counts toward your plan allowance.
Does the eSIM work in rural areas and small towns?
Coverage depends on the partner network's reach in Finland-unlimited. Major cities, tourist areas, and highways typically have strong 4G/5G coverage. Remote rural areas may have weaker signal or fall back to 3G. Download offline maps before heading off the beaten path.
Will my eSIM work in airports immediately after landing?
Yes - eSIMs typically connect within seconds of switching off airplane mode at the gate. Major airports have strong cellular coverage from local partner networks, so you'll have data before reaching baggage claim. No setup needed at arrival.
Will my home phone number receive calls while I use the eSIM?
Yes - if your home SIM stays installed and active, calls and SMS to your home number arrive normally. The eSIM only handles data; voice service stays on your home line. Just remember that incoming calls and texts to your home number while abroad may trigger roaming charges from your home carrier.
Can I make phone calls or send SMS?
eSIMno is a data-only service, so you can't make traditional voice calls or send SMS through the eSIM line. However, you can use messaging and calling apps over data - WhatsApp, iMessage, FaceTime, Telegram, Signal, and Google Meet all work normally.
What customer support is available if I have issues?
eSIMno offers 24/7 support via WhatsApp and email. Our human support team - not bots - handles installation help, troubleshooting, billing questions, and refund inquiries. Most issues are resolved within minutes during business hours and within a few hours overnight.
Do I need to remove my eSIM after my trip?
You don't have to remove it. Once your data plan expires, the eSIM simply stops providing data. You can leave the dormant profile on your phone and reuse it next time by purchasing a new plan, or delete it from cellular settings to free up an eSIM slot.
Should I enable data roaming for the eSIM?
Yes - you must enable data roaming for the eSIM line, even though there are no roaming charges. The eSIM connects to a local partner network and your phone treats this as roaming. Enable it: iPhone > Settings > Cellular > eSIMno line > Data Roaming ON; Android > Settings > Network > SIMs > eSIMno > Roaming ON. This setting only affects the eSIM, not your home SIM.
