Romania Voice eSIM – Calls, SMS & Data on a Real Mobile Number

Delivery drivers in Bucharest call mobile numbers, not apps. When you're settling into a month-long apartment rental and need a working line for building access codes, pharmacy prescriptions, and the furniture store confirming your order, a data-only plan leaves gaps. eSIMno Romania Voice gives you mobile data plus a real phone number with unlimited outgoing calls and SMS throughout geographic Europe—while incoming calls and SMS reach you free, anywhere in the world.

How to Get Your eSIM

  1. Purchase and Receive
Complete your order and receive the eSIM QR code via email within minutes. No physical SIM card ships—everything is digital.
  2. Install Before You Travel
Scan the QR code in your device settings while connected to WiFi. The eSIM installs as a secondary line alongside your existing number.
  3. Activate in Romania
Enable the eSIM data line when you land. Your French phone number becomes active, and you can immediately make calls, send SMS, and use data.
  4. Use Your Number
Share your new number with landlords, delivery services, and local contacts. Outgoing calls and SMS work throughout geographic Europe; incoming reach you worldwide.

How the Voice Plan Works

Your Romania Voice eSIM provides mobile data for everyday connectivity plus a real French phone number capable of voice calls and SMS. The two directions work under different rules:

Outgoing calls and SMS are unlimited while you remain physically within geographic Europe. Call Romanian phone numbers, text your landlord, confirm appointments—all without counting minutes or messages. Step outside Europe, and outgoing service stops.

Incoming calls and SMS are free and reach you anywhere in the world. Whether you stay in Brașov, travel onward to Turkey, or fly home to Australia, your French number keeps working for callbacks, verification codes, and anyone who needs to reach you. There is no charge and no deduction from your allowance.

The number itself is French (+33), not Romanian. Anyone calling you dials the French number; you answer wherever you happen to be. This is not a local Romanian line, so give callers the full international format.

Receiving an SMS Delivery Notification

Delivery confirmations and access codes arrive by SMS—your Voice eSIM receives them anywhere.

Is This Plan Right for You?

Choose the Voice plan when: You need a phone number that Romanian services can call or text—apartment access codes, medical appointment confirmations, delivery drivers, or bank verification SMS. You plan to stay several weeks and want one number that handles everything. You want free incoming calls and SMS even after you leave Europe.

A data-only plan may suit you better when: Your trip is brief and you rely entirely on messaging apps and WiFi calling. You never need to receive SMS verification codes or voice callbacks. Budget matters most and you do not require a working phone number. If this describes your situation, the Romania Unlimited offers generous data without the voice component, often at lower cost.

If you are still deciding between Voice and data-only options, explore the full range on our Romania to compare validity and data sizes across every plan family.

Traveller Tips

  • Save your French number in international format (+33) so Romanian contacts can dial it correctly.
  • Give your Voice number to delivery services, pharmacies, and landlords—they text updates that apps cannot intercept.
  • Incoming SMS from banks and airlines arrive free, even after you leave Romania and Europe entirely.
  • Install the eSIM before departure so you can troubleshoot on home WiFi if needed.
  • The line cannot be refilled—if you expect heavy data use, choose a larger allowance upfront.
  • Keep your home SIM active for services locked to that number; use the Voice eSIM for everything local.

Yes. Incoming SMS arrives free anywhere in the world, including verification codes from banks, airlines, and apps. The French number works as a fully functional mobile line for these messages.
No. The Romania Voice eSIM cannot be refilled or topped up. When your data runs out, or the 30-day validity ends, the line closes permanently. Choose your data size carefully based on expected daily use.
Yes. Incoming calls and SMS are free and reach you anywhere in the world, whether you remain in Romania, travel to another continent, or return home. Only outgoing calls and SMS require you to be physically in Europe.
When your data allowance is exhausted, the line closes. There is no option to purchase additional data or extend validity. If you expect heavy usage, select a larger plan from the start.

Get Started
The Romania Voice eSIM combines mobile data with a genuine phone number that handles both calls and SMS. Outgoing calls and texts are unlimited while you remain physically within geographic Europe—not limited to EU member states, but the actual European continent. This means you can call Romanian businesses, confirm appointments, and text local contacts without watching a meter. Incoming calls and SMS work differently: they are free and reach you anywhere in the world, whether you stay in Romania, travel onward to Asia, or return home. Bank verification codes, airline updates, and callback requests all arrive on the same number. This plan fits travellers who stay long enough that a phone number becomes practical infrastructure. If your Romanian landlord texts entry codes, if the veterinary clinic confirms your pet's appointment by phone, if you need a number for official paperwork or local deliveries—Voice handles all of it. A standard data-only eSIM cannot receive SMS verification codes or take voice calls, so anyone relying on app-based workarounds will eventually hit a service that refuses them. However, if your trip is brief and you only need maps and messaging apps, the data plan costs less and may suit you better. The number you receive is French (+33), not Romanian. Callers dial the French number to reach you; you answer wherever you are. Each plan runs exactly 30 days from activation and cannot be refilled or extended—once the validity ends or the data runs out, the line closes permanently. Choose your data allowance based on realistic daily use, because there is no way to add more mid-trip.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Find helpful information to answer your questions

What should I do if I lose my activation QR code?
You can't really lose it - your QR code is in your order confirmation email, and also in the install pop-up on the website. To reopen it any time before activation, tap "Install eSIM" in your order email, or sign in at esimno.com and go to Profile > My eSIMs > Install. Both show the QR code together with the one-tap install link and the manual SM-DP+ / activation code. Note the install codes are one-time-use: once the eSIM is installed on a device they can't be reused - reopen the installer (My eSIMs > Install) to display a fresh QR if you need one.
Will my home phone number receive calls while I use the eSIM?
Yes - if your home SIM stays installed and active, calls and SMS to your home number arrive normally. The eSIM only handles data; voice service stays on your home line. Just remember that incoming calls and texts to your home number while abroad may trigger roaming charges from your home carrier.
Can I extend my eSIM plan validity?
The validity of a package that is already running cannot be extended, but you can top up: a top-up adds a new package with its own data AND its own validity days. Packages run one at a time - the top-up waits in queue and activates automatically when your current package ends (data used up or days expired), and its own days start counting from that moment. In practice this keeps you connected longer, even though the current package's own end date does not move.
Can I switch the eSIM to a different phone after activation?
Generally no. Once an eSIM is activated on a device, it's tied to that device. If you switch phones, you'll need to install a new eSIM. Some carriers offer eSIM transfer features, but eSIMno plans don't currently support transfer between devices.
Will I get notifications when my data is running low?
Yes. eSIMno sends email and push notifications when you've used 50%, 80%, and 100% of your data allowance. You can also check usage anytime in the eSIMno Center or in your phone's cellular settings to track consumption in real time.
How can I check my data usage?
Log in to the eSIMno Center on our website or mobile app to see your remaining data balance and usage history. You can also check usage in your phone's cellular data settings - most devices show data consumed per line.
Should I enable data roaming for the eSIM?
Yes - you must enable data roaming for the eSIM line, even though there are no roaming charges. The eSIM connects to a local partner network and your phone treats this as roaming. Enable it: iPhone > Settings > Cellular > eSIMno line > Data Roaming ON; Android > Settings > Network > SIMs > eSIMno > Roaming ON. This setting only affects the eSIM, not your home SIM.
Can I share data from my eSIM with someone else's phone?
Yes, through Personal Hotspot. Activate hotspot on your phone, share the password, and the other device connects to your data. Data used by connected devices counts toward your eSIM plan, so monitor usage to avoid running out faster than expected.
What payment methods does eSIMno accept?
eSIMno accepts major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. All transactions are processed through secure encrypted gateways, and we don't store full card details on our servers.
How can I verify if my eSIM is activated?
There are two clear indicators: (1) your phone's status bar shows the local carrier name once you arrive at your destination, and (2) the data icon (4G, LTE, or 5G) appears next to the eSIMno line in your cellular settings. If neither shows up, toggle airplane mode off and on, or restart your phone.
Does the eSIM work on cruise ships or airplanes?
eSIMs use ground-based cellular networks, so they don't work in flight or at sea outside coastal coverage. They activate as soon as you connect to a partner network on land. For in-flight or maritime data, you'll need the airline or ship's onboard Wi-Fi.
How long is the validity of the Romania-voice eSIM plans?
The validity of eSIM plans varies from 7 days to 90 days depending on the plan you choose. Lifetime options are also available for travelers who don't want their data to expire after a fixed period.
