Macao Unlimited eSIM: Stay Connected All Day with Fair-Use Data

Deadline looming, hotel checkout behind you, and your only workspace is a bench outside Senado Square. The eSIMno Macao Unlimited eSIM gives you 1 GB of high-speed data every day—and when that runs out, the connection slows to 128 Kbps instead of dying completely. Your laptop stays online; your work gets done.

How to Get Your eSIM

  1. Choose Your Validity
Select a 1, 3, 5 or 7-day Macao Unlimited plan based on your trip length. For stays longer than 7 days, consider the standard data plans instead.
  2. Complete Your Purchase
Check out securely. Your eSIM QR code and installation instructions arrive by email within minutes.
  3. Install Before You Travel
Scan the QR code in your device settings while still on Wi-Fi. The eSIM installs in the background and waits for activation.
  4. Activate in Macao
Enable the eSIM line when you arrive. Your first day's 1 GB high-speed allowance begins immediately.
  5. Stay Connected All Day
Use your data freely. If you exhaust the daily quota, your connection continues at 128 Kbps until the next reset at midnight UTC+8.

How the Unlimited Plan Works

Each day you receive 1 GB of high-speed data on the China Telecom Macao network. Use it for tethering your laptop, uploading files, video calls—whatever your work demands. Once that 1 GB is gone, your connection slows to 128 Kbps for the rest of the day. Importantly, it never disconnects entirely.

At 128 Kbps, you can still load Google Maps, send WhatsApp messages, and receive emails with small attachments. Video streaming and voice-over-IP calls will not function properly at this speed. This is a deliberate trade-off: you get the security of an always-on connection without the risk of surprise charges or sudden blackouts.

The daily allowance resets at midnight UTC+8. That is a fixed moment in UTC, not midnight where you are, so check your phone's UTC offset if you plan around it. When the reset happens, your high-speed quota returns to a fresh 1 GB.

This is a data-only eSIM. There is no phone number, no voice calls, and no SMS capability. Use internet-based apps for communication.

Is This Plan Right for You?

The Unlimited Plan Fits When…

You tether a laptop and need the assurance that your connection will not vanish mid-task. You have work calls, document syncing, or email that cannot wait for café Wi-Fi. You prefer predictable daily usage over monitoring a shrinking data balance. You want a safety net—knowing that even after 1 GB, basic connectivity remains.

The Standard Data Plan Fits Better When…

Your usage is lighter: occasional maps, messaging, and social media. You do not need tethering or heavy uploads. Your trip exceeds 7 days—the longest Unlimited plan—and you want a single eSIM to cover it. You prefer to buy only the gigabytes you will actually use rather than a daily allowance that might go partially unused.

There is no wrong choice, only different priorities. If you need the longest coverage, visit our general Macao eSIM page for data plans that extend beyond one week.

Traveller Tips

  • Track your daily usage in your phone's settings so you know when you are approaching the 1 GB threshold and can prioritise tasks accordingly.
  • Download maps, documents, and entertainment for offline use while on high-speed data—this keeps essentials accessible even at throttled speeds.
  • The 128 Kbps fallback handles messaging apps well, so switch to text-based communication if your quota runs out during a busy workday.
  • Disable automatic app updates and cloud photo uploads to preserve high-speed data for the tasks that truly need it.
  • Since the daily reset occurs at midnight UTC+8, not local midnight, check the current UTC time to know exactly when your quota refreshes.
  • If your trip is longer than 7 days, plan to purchase a second eSIM or consider the standard Macao data plans for extended coverage.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Your speed drops to 128 Kbps for the rest of the day, but the connection stays active. You can still use maps, messaging apps, and email. Video streaming and voice calls will not work properly at this reduced speed. Your full 1 GB allowance returns at midnight UTC+8.
No. The Macao Unlimited eSIM cannot be refilled or extended. When your plan's validity ends, the line closes permanently. If you need more days, you would purchase a new eSIM.
It depends on what you need. At 128 Kbps, Google Maps loads slowly but works, WhatsApp and Telegram messages send fine, and plain-text emails arrive without issue. However, video calls, streaming, and large file downloads will not function usably. The throttled speed is a safety net, not a replacement for high-speed data.
No. This is a data-only eSIM with no phone number, no voice calls, and no SMS capability. Use internet-based apps like WhatsApp, Zoom, or FaceTime for communication.
The daily 1 GB high-speed allowance resets at midnight UTC+8. That is a fixed moment in UTC, not midnight where you are, so check your phone's UTC offset if you plan around it.
The longest Macao Unlimited plan is 7 days. For longer trips, consider the standard Macao data plans, which offer extended validity options. You can find these on our main Macao eSIM page.

Seamless global eSIM coverage

Get Started
The Macao Unlimited eSIM delivers 1 GB of high-speed data every day. Once you use that allowance, your speed drops to 128 Kbps for the remainder of the day—but the connection never cuts off. At 128 Kbps you can still load maps, send messages, and check email, though video calls and streaming will not work. The daily allowance resets at midnight UTC+8; that is a fixed moment in UTC, not midnight where you are, so check your phone's UTC offset if you plan around it. This is a data-only plan with no phone number, no calls, and no SMS. This plan works best when you need guaranteed connectivity across a full working day. Tethering a laptop for email, documents, and light browsing fits comfortably within 1 GB. If your high-speed quota runs out mid-afternoon, the throttled connection keeps essential tools alive until midnight UTC+8 brings a fresh allowance. For travellers who only need occasional navigation or messaging, the standard Macao data plans may offer better value since you pay only for what you actually use. The longest Macao Unlimited plan is 7 days. If your trip is longer, consider the standard data plans instead—they can cover extended stays without gaps. Once an Unlimited plan expires, the line closes permanently; there is no way to refill or extend it. You would simply purchase a new eSIM for your remaining days. This structure keeps things simple: buy the validity you need, use it fully, and move on.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Find helpful information to answer your questions

Is unlimited data really unlimited?
Unlimited plans provide unlimited data at high speed (4G/5G) up to a fair-use threshold defined per plan. Beyond that threshold, speeds may be reduced to 128 Kbps for the remainder of the validity period - still usable for messaging and basic browsing, but slower for streaming and video calls.
Can I install my eSIM before traveling?
Yes - setting it up before your trip is the easiest approach. Your confirmation email contains the QR code, a one-tap install link and the manual SM-DP+ / activation codes (the same options are also available via sign in > Profile > My eSIMs > Install). While on Wi-Fi at home, install it with the one-tap link on your phone, or - to use the QR - show it on another screen or a printout and scan it with the phone you are setting up (not another phone). Installing does not start your plan: the validity countdown only begins when the eSIM connects to a mobile network inside your plan's coverage area. Keep the eSIM line and its Data Roaming off until you are ready to start - if your plan covers the country you are in right now, turning the line on connects and starts the countdown immediately, even if you do not browse anything. Please note: once installed, an eSIM is considered used and is no longer eligible for a refund.
Can I make phone calls or send SMS?
eSIMno is a data-only service, so you can't make traditional voice calls or send SMS through the eSIM line. However, you can use messaging and calling apps over data - WhatsApp, iMessage, FaceTime, Telegram, Signal, and Google Meet all work normally.
Can I use the eSIM to make video calls?
Yes - apps like FaceTime, WhatsApp, Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams all work over your eSIM data. Video calls use about 200-400 MB per hour depending on quality, so factor that into your plan choice if you make long calls regularly.
Will the eSIM affect my phone's battery life?
Running two SIM lines (physical + eSIM) uses slightly more battery than one, since the phone monitors both networks. The difference is usually 5-10% over a full day. To minimize impact, disable the line you're not actively using or turn off cellular data on the inactive line.
What network speeds can I expect?
Most eSIMno plans connect at 4G/LTE or 5G speeds depending on local network availability and your device's capabilities. Speed varies by location, network congestion, and signal strength. In major cities and tourist areas, expect speeds comparable to local mobile carriers.
What smartphones support eSIM?
Most modern devices support eSIM, including iPhone XS and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 through S25 series, Google Pixel 4 and later, Huawei P40 and later, and many recent iPads. Check our full compatibility list before purchasing to confirm your device is supported.
What data plans are available for the Macao-unlimited eSIM?
eSIMno provides various data plans ranging from 1 GB to unlimited data, with options from 7 days to 90 days of service. Plans also include regional and lifetime options for travelers who want flexibility across multiple destinations.
How long is the validity of the Macao-unlimited eSIM plans?
The validity of eSIM plans varies from 7 days to 90 days depending on the plan you choose. Lifetime options are also available for travelers who don't want their data to expire after a fixed period.
Is the eSIM connection secure?
eSIM connections are as secure as standard cellular connections - encrypted by the carrier network. For added security on public networks (cafes, airports), use a VPN. The eSIM profile itself is digitally signed and can't be cloned like a physical SIM.
Can I use the eSIM right after purchase or do I need to wait?
Yes - you can install it immediately after purchase. Your order email arrives within minutes and contains the QR code, a one-tap install link and the manual codes, plus an "Install eSIM" button; you can also sign in > My eSIMs > Install any time. Installing right away does not start your plan - the validity countdown only begins when the eSIM connects to a mobile network inside your plan's coverage area. Keep the eSIM line and Data Roaming off until you are ready to start; if your plan covers the country you are in right now, turning the line on starts the countdown immediately.
Will I get notifications when my data is running low?
Yes. eSIMno sends email and push notifications when you've used 50%, 80%, and 100% of your data allowance. You can also check usage anytime in the eSIMno Center or in your phone's cellular settings to track consumption in real time.
