Greece Unlimited eSIM – Daily Data for Groups and Hotspot Sharing

Four ferry tickets booked, one person responsible for everyone's Wi-Fi — you need a plan that keeps working even when the group burns through data faster than expected. The Greece Unlimited eSIM from eSIMno gives you 1 GB of high-speed data every day, then continues at 128 Kbps instead of cutting off. Honest about the limit, reliable when it matters.

How to Get Your eSIM

  1. Purchase and receive your QR code
Complete your order and the eSIM QR code arrives in your email within minutes. You can buy before you leave or while already traveling.
  2. Scan and install
On your eSIM-compatible device, go to Settings → Cellular/Mobile → Add eSIM and scan the QR code. Label it something clear like 'Greece Data' so you can find it easily.
  3. Enable data roaming
Turn on data roaming for the new eSIM line. This is required even though you are using a travel data plan — the network treats it as a roaming connection.
  4. Set as primary data line
If you have multiple SIMs, set this eSIM as your cellular data source. Keep your home SIM for iMessage or WhatsApp verification if needed.
  5. Connect and share
Enable Personal Hotspot to share the connection with travel companions. Your 1 GB daily high-speed allowance covers the whole group.

How the Unlimited Plan Works

Every Greece Unlimited plan — whether 1 day or 7 days — includes the same daily structure: 1 GB of high-speed data, refreshed at 00:00 UTC each day. Use that gigabyte however you like: navigation, uploads, browsing, or tethering to other devices.

When the 1 GB runs out, your connection continues at 128 Kbps until the next reset. At that speed, you can still load Google Maps directions, send and receive WhatsApp messages, check email, and handle basic browsing. What you cannot do is stream video, make VoIP calls, or upload large files — the bandwidth simply is not there. This is a deliberate trade-off: you get peace of mind that you will never be fully offline, in exchange for accepting reduced speed after heavy use.

This is a data-only eSIM. There is no phone number attached, which means no voice calls and no SMS. If you need to receive verification codes or make actual phone calls, you will need to look at the Greece Voice instead.

Stay Connected Between Islands

One connection keeps the whole group on track — from Athens to the islands.

Is This Plan Right for You?

The Unlimited plan fits when: You are traveling with others who will share your hotspot and you want the security of never losing connection entirely. It suits trips of a week or less where moderate daily data — navigation, messaging, occasional uploads — covers your needs. If your main concern is avoiding a dead connection at a critical moment, this plan delivers.

A standard data plan fits better when: Your trip exceeds 7 days and you do not want to manage multiple eSIM purchases. It also suits solo travelers who know their usage well and prefer a larger upfront data bucket without daily resets. Heavy uploaders — photographers syncing hundreds of RAW files, remote workers on video calls — will hit the 1 GB ceiling quickly and find 128 Kbps frustrating. For longer validity or heavier single-day usage, explore the Greece to compare your options. Being honest about fit saves everyone time.

Traveler Tips

  • Download offline maps for the Greek islands before you arrive — they work perfectly with the slower 128 Kbps fallback speed and save your high-speed quota for other tasks.
  • Check your phone's UTC offset before relying on the daily reset. The quota refreshes at 00:00 UTC, which may fall at a different hour locally.
  • Disable automatic app updates and cloud photo sync on all tethered devices. One iPad backup can drain your daily gigabyte before anyone checks a map.
  • Keep your home SIM active but set this eSIM as the data line. WhatsApp and iMessage verification stay linked to your original number while all data flows through the Greece plan.
  • Brief your travel group on the speed drop. When everyone knows 128 Kbps is coming after 1 GB, nobody panics — they just switch to lighter tasks.
  • If your trip runs longer than 7 days, purchase your next eSIM a day early and install it so you can switch over without a connectivity gap.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Your connection continues at 128 Kbps until the next daily reset at 00:00 UTC. At this speed, you can still use maps, send messages, and check email, but video streaming and VoIP calls will not work reliably. The connection is never cut off entirely.
Yes. Google Maps loads routes and turn-by-turn directions at 128 Kbps, especially if you have downloaded offline maps for your region. Satellite view and Street View will be very slow, but basic navigation works.
No. The Greece Unlimited eSIM cannot be refilled or topped up. When your validity period ends, the line closes. If you need more time, you will need to purchase a new eSIM.
No. This is a data-only plan with no phone number, no voice calls, and no SMS capability. If you need to make or receive calls, consider a voice-enabled plan instead.
The daily quota resets at 00:00 UTC. That is a fixed moment in UTC, not midnight where you are, so check your phone's UTC offset if you plan around it.
The longest Greece Unlimited plan is 7 days. For trips longer than a week, you would either need to purchase additional eSIMs or consider the standard Greece data plans, which offer longer validity periods.

Seamless global eSIM coverage

Get Started
The Greece Unlimited eSIM delivers 1 GB of high-speed data every day of your plan. Once you use that allowance, the connection slows to 128 Kbps but never stops — enough for Google Maps navigation, WhatsApp messages, and email, though not for video streaming or voice-over-IP calls. The daily quota resets at 00:00 UTC; that is a fixed moment in UTC, not midnight where you are, so check your phone's UTC offset if you plan around it. This is a data-only plan with no phone number, no calls, and no SMS. This family works best when you are the group's connectivity hub — tethering a laptop for quick work sessions, keeping tablets online for the kids, or making sure everyone can load directions without hunting for café Wi-Fi. Because the connection never fully drops, you avoid the frustration of mid-route disconnections. However, if you need more than 7 days of coverage, heavy video uploads, or a working phone number, the standard Greece data plans or voice plans will serve you better. The line cannot be refilled or topped up. When your validity ends — whether 1, 3, 5, or 7 days — the eSIM closes and you would need to purchase a new one. Plan your trip length accordingly. For journeys longer than a week, consider the regular data bundles that offer extended validity windows.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Find helpful information to answer your questions

Can I tether or use Personal Hotspot with my eSIM?
Yes. Your eSIMno plan supports tethering and Personal Hotspot at no extra charge. Activate the Personal Hotspot feature in your device settings and connect other devices as you would with any cellular plan. Data used while tethering counts toward your plan allowance.
Is unlimited data really unlimited?
Unlimited plans provide unlimited data at high speed (4G/5G) up to a fair-use threshold defined per plan. Beyond that threshold, speeds may be reduced to 128 Kbps for the remainder of the validity period - still usable for messaging and basic browsing, but slower for streaming and video calls.
Can I buy an eSIM for someone else as a gift?
Yes. Purchase the eSIM with your own details, then forward your order confirmation email - or share the "Install eSIM" link from it - with the recipient so they can install it on their own phone (the email contains the QR code and the manual SM-DP+ / activation codes). Make sure their device is eSIM-compatible first - installation usually cannot be reversed once completed.
Can I make phone calls or send SMS?
eSIMno is a data-only service, so you can't make traditional voice calls or send SMS through the eSIM line. However, you can use messaging and calling apps over data - WhatsApp, iMessage, FaceTime, Telegram, Signal, and Google Meet all work normally.
Can I get a refund after purchase?
Refunds are not available once an eSIM has been installed or activated - install codes are one-time-use, so an installed eSIM is considered used even if no data has been consumed. If you have not installed your eSIM yet and want a refund, contact support within the refund window stated at checkout. We recommend reviewing plan details carefully before purchase to avoid any issues.
Will the eSIM affect my phone's battery life?
Running two SIM lines (physical + eSIM) uses slightly more battery than one, since the phone monitors both networks. The difference is usually 5-10% over a full day. To minimize impact, disable the line you're not actively using or turn off cellular data on the inactive line.
How do I set up the eSIM on my device?
The fastest way is straight from your order confirmation email, which now contains - for each eSIM - the QR code, a one-tap install link, and the SM-DP+ / activation codes. On the phone you'll use, tap the one-tap install link; or, to use the QR, show it on another screen or a printout and scan it with that same phone (not another phone); or enter the codes manually. The email also has an "Install eSIM" button that opens your eSIM's detail page and launches the install pop-up (sign in if prompted), and you can reach the same pop-up anytime via Profile > My eSIMs > find your plan (shown as "Ready to install") > Install. After installing, turn Data Roaming ON for your eSIMno line (iPhone: Settings > Cellular; Android: Settings > Connections/Network) - without it the eSIM installs but shows no internet. Full guide in Help & Support.
Can I use my SIM card and eSIM at the same time?
Yes. On dual-SIM devices (most modern iPhones and Android phones), you can run your physical SIM and the eSIM simultaneously. Use your home SIM for calls and SMS, and the eSIM for mobile data. Keep in mind that leaving your home SIM active may trigger roaming charges if you use it for calls or texts abroad.
What happens if I pause my trip and return home?
Your eSIM keeps its validity period running whether you're using it or not - pausing your trip doesn't pause the timer. If you return home, the eSIM stays dormant on your device until you travel again or it expires. You can disable it in cellular settings to avoid accidental usage.
Does the eSIM work in rural areas and small towns?
Coverage depends on the partner network's reach in Greece-unlimited. Major cities, tourist areas, and highways typically have strong 4G/5G coverage. Remote rural areas may have weaker signal or fall back to 3G. Download offline maps before heading off the beaten path.
Can I install multiple eSIMs on the same phone?
Yes. Modern iPhones and Android devices support multiple eSIM profiles - typically 5 to 8 stored profiles, with 1 or 2 active simultaneously. You can install eSIMs for different countries and switch between them in settings without removing any.
How can I verify if my eSIM is activated?
There are two clear indicators: (1) your phone's status bar shows the local carrier name once you arrive at your destination, and (2) the data icon (4G, LTE, or 5G) appears next to the eSIMno line in your cellular settings. If neither shows up, toggle airplane mode off and on, or restart your phone.
