How the Voice Plan Works

Your Germany Voice eSIM includes mobile data and a real phone number capable of calls and SMS. The two directions work differently, so it helps to understand each.

Outgoing: Unlimited Across Geographic Europe

While you are physically located anywhere in geographic Europe—Germany, France, Norway, Switzerland, the Balkans—outgoing calls and SMS are unlimited. You can phone local businesses, call friends in neighbouring countries, or text confirmations without watching a counter.

Incoming: Free Worldwide

Incoming calls and SMS are free and reach you anywhere on the planet. Fly to the US for a long weekend or travel onward to Asia and your number still rings. Bank verification codes, appointment reminders and callbacks all arrive at no charge.

The Number Itself

You receive a French (+33) mobile number, not a German one. Anyone calling you dials this French number; you answer on your device as normal. For most practical purposes—deliveries, appointments, app verifications—it works identically to a local number, but the caller sees an international format.

Is This Plan Right for You?

The Voice plan earns its place when your trip depends on two-way phone contact. If you're renting an apartment, registering with local services, expecting deliveries, or scheduling medical appointments, a callable number is essential. Freelancers and remote workers who need to dial European clients also benefit from unlimited outgoing across the continent.

On the other hand, if your Germany visit is a short holiday spent on mobile data for maps, translation apps and messaging, a voice line adds cost you may not need. The same applies if all your calls happen over Wi-Fi apps like WhatsApp or FaceTime. For those trips, check the Germany Unlimited instead—it focuses purely on high-speed data without the calling component.

Still unsure whether you need voice at all? Browse the full range on the Germany to compare data-only options and find the validity that matches your itinerary.

Traveller Tips

  • Share your French (+33) number early with landlords, pharmacies and delivery services so callbacks reach you from day one.
  • Save the number in your own contacts—German businesses often ask you to confirm it over the phone.
  • Outgoing unlimited applies across geographic Europe, so weekend trips to Austria or Poland stay covered.
  • Incoming SMS verifications from banks work worldwide; keep the eSIM active even if you leave Europe briefly.
  • Plan your data bucket for the full 30 days—there is no top-up, so a larger plan avoids running short.
  • Label the eSIM clearly in your phone settings to avoid accidentally disabling it when switching lines.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The number is French (+33). Callers dial an international French number to reach you, but you answer normally on your device in Germany. For practical purposes—deliveries, appointments, verifications—it functions like any mobile number.
Outgoing calls and SMS are unlimited while you are physically located anywhere in geographic Europe. This includes Germany and neighbouring countries regardless of EU membership—Switzerland, Norway and the Balkans all count.
Yes. Incoming calls and SMS are free and reach you anywhere in the world. If you travel onward to the US, Asia or elsewhere, people can still call or text your number at no charge to you.
No. The line cannot be refilled or topped up. When your data, minutes or SMS allowance is exhausted, or when the 30-day validity ends, the line closes permanently. Choose a plan size that covers your full stay.

Seamless global eSIM coverage

Get Started
The Germany Voice eSIM bundles mobile data with a real phone number that handles calls and SMS. Outgoing calls and texts are unlimited while you are physically anywhere in geographic Europe—not tied to EU membership, just the continent. Incoming calls and SMS are free and work anywhere in the world, so callbacks from German businesses reach you whether you've crossed into Switzerland for a weekend or flown home early. The number itself is French (+33), which means callers dial an international number to reach you, but you answer normally on your device. This plan fits travellers who will rely on voice contact over several weeks: apartment handovers, medical appointments, parcel deliveries, local service bookings. If your stay is short and you only need data for maps and messaging apps, a standard data eSIM is lighter and often cheaper. But the moment a German pharmacy, landlord or delivery driver needs to phone you back, a data-only plan leaves you unreachable. Every Voice plan runs for 30 days from activation. When your data, minutes or SMS allowance is exhausted—or the validity expires—the line closes permanently. There is no option to refill or extend. Plan your purchase around the length of your stay, and if you expect heavy data use alongside voice, choose a larger bucket upfront.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Find helpful information to answer your questions

Will I get notifications when my data is running low?
Yes. eSIMno sends email and push notifications when you've used 50%, 80%, and 100% of your data allowance. You can also check usage anytime in the eSIMno Center or in your phone's cellular settings to track consumption in real time.
What happens when my data plan runs out?
When you use up your data allowance, your connection stops until you top up or purchase a new plan. You can top up directly from the eSIMno Center while connected to Wi-Fi, or buy a new plan if your validity period has expired.
Can I use the eSIM on more than one device?
Each eSIM profile is tied to a single device once activated. If you need data on multiple devices (e.g., phone and tablet), you can either purchase separate eSIMs for each device or use the Personal Hotspot feature on your phone to share data with other devices.
Can I make phone calls or send SMS?
eSIMno is a data-only service, so you can't make traditional voice calls or send SMS through the eSIM line. However, you can use messaging and calling apps over data - WhatsApp, iMessage, FaceTime, Telegram, Signal, and Google Meet all work normally.
How fast does the eSIM activate after I switch off airplane mode?
Activation typically takes 10-30 seconds after airplane mode is switched off, depending on local network availability. In some cases it's nearly instant; in remote areas it may take a minute or two. If it doesn't connect within 5 minutes, restart your phone or check that data roaming is enabled.
Does the eSIM work on cruise ships or airplanes?
eSIMs use ground-based cellular networks, so they don't work in flight or at sea outside coastal coverage. They activate as soon as you connect to a partner network on land. For in-flight or maritime data, you'll need the airline or ship's onboard Wi-Fi.
Do I need to remove my eSIM after my trip?
You don't have to remove it. Once your data plan expires, the eSIM simply stops providing data. You can leave the dormant profile on your phone and reuse it next time by purchasing a new plan, or delete it from cellular settings to free up an eSIM slot.
How can I purchase the Germany-voice eSIM?
You can purchase your eSIM directly from the eSIMno website - select a Germany-voice plan and complete the payment. Within minutes you'll receive an order confirmation email that contains everything you need to install: a QR code, a one-tap install link, the SM-DP+ address and activation code, plus an "Install eSIM" button. You can install straight from that email, or sign in anytime and go to Profile > My eSIMs > Install to get the same options.
Can I tether or use Personal Hotspot with my eSIM?
Yes. Your eSIMno plan supports tethering and Personal Hotspot at no extra charge. Activate the Personal Hotspot feature in your device settings and connect other devices as you would with any cellular plan. Data used while tethering counts toward your plan allowance.
When should I set up my eSIM?
A Wi-Fi connection is required to install your eSIM, so we recommend setting it up before you leave home. Activation can happen later, either right before departure or after you land at your destination - but the initial QR scan needs Wi-Fi.
Will my eSIM work in airports immediately after landing?
Yes - eSIMs typically connect within seconds of switching off airplane mode at the gate. Major airports have strong cellular coverage from local partner networks, so you'll have data before reaching baggage claim. No setup needed at arrival.
Can I use the eSIM right after purchase or do I need to wait?
Yes - you can install it immediately after purchase. Your order email arrives within minutes and contains the QR code, a one-tap install link and the manual codes, plus an "Install eSIM" button; you can also sign in > My eSIMs > Install any time. Installing right away does not start your plan - the validity countdown only begins when the eSIM connects to a mobile network inside your plan's coverage area. Keep the eSIM line and Data Roaming off until you are ready to start; if your plan covers the country you are in right now, turning the line on starts the countdown immediately.
