Estonia Voice eSIM – Calls, SMS & Data for Your Baltic Journey

The ferry office in Tallinn only takes phone bookings, and the rural guesthouse on Saaremaa Island has a landline number posted on a handwritten sign. With an eSIMno Voice plan, you carry a working mobile number that lets you dial these places directly—unlimited calls across geographic Europe—while incoming calls and SMS reach you free anywhere in the world.

How to Get Your eSIM

  1. Purchase Your Plan
Choose the data allowance that matches your trip. You will receive a QR code and setup instructions by email within minutes.
  2. Scan the QR Code
Open your phone's eSIM settings and scan the code. Your device downloads the profile and your French phone number is assigned automatically.
  3. Activate on Arrival
Enable the eSIM line when you land in Estonia. Outgoing calls and SMS work throughout geographic Europe; incoming calls and SMS are free worldwide.
  4. Start Calling
Dial local Estonian numbers, reach businesses across Europe, and receive callbacks or verification codes on your new number.

How the Voice Plan Works

Your Estonia Voice eSIM provides mobile data alongside a real mobile number for calls and SMS. The number assigned is French (+33), which means callers—whether a Tallinn taxi office or your family back home—dial that French number to reach you.

Outgoing: Calls and SMS from your phone are unlimited, but only while you are physically located within geographic Europe. This is the continent, not the EU or any political bloc. Step outside Europe and outgoing service stops.

Incoming: Calls and SMS to your number are free and work anywhere in the world. A clinic in Estonia can call you back whether you have moved on to Asia or stayed local. Bank verification codes, airline confirmations, and app logins sent by SMS all arrive at no charge.

Data draws from your purchased allowance. When data runs out, or when the 30-day validity ends, the entire line—data, calls, and SMS—closes. There is no refill or top-up option, so choose your plan size with your full trip in mind.

Is This Plan Right for You?

The Voice plan fits when: You need to phone places that do not use WhatsApp or email—ferry booking desks, rural guesthouses, medical clinics, taxi dispatchers. You expect callbacks or SMS confirmations, such as door codes from apartment rentals. You rely on SMS for two-factor authentication with banks, airlines or work apps, and your home SIM will not receive texts abroad.

A data-only plan fits better when: Your communication stays inside apps—WhatsApp calls, Messenger, email. You will not dial landlines or need anyone to call you back. If your needs are purely data, the Estonia Unlimited provides generous high-speed allowances without a phone number attached, and may suit a simpler trip.

If you are unsure whether you need voice features, consider how the businesses you will contact operate. A Tallinn hotel with an online chat needs only data; a Saaremaa ferry office with a posted phone number needs a callable line.

Understanding Your French Number

The phone number included with this eSIM is a French (+33) mobile number, not an Estonian local number. This has a few practical effects worth knowing.

When an Estonian business calls you back, they dial an international number. Most modern lines handle this without issue, but you may want to confirm when leaving your number with a taxi office or clinic. When you call Estonian numbers, the call originates from your French line—again, this works seamlessly in practice.

For travellers who need a strictly Estonian number for local directory listings or government services, this eSIM is not the solution. But for everyday travel calls—booking ferries, confirming guesthouse arrivals, receiving SMS codes—the French number performs identically to any mobile line. If your plans do not require voice or SMS at all, see the options on the Estonia for data-focused alternatives.

Traveller Tips

  • Save your new French number in your contacts and share it with accommodations, tour operators and anyone who may need to reach you during your trip.
  • When giving your number to Estonian businesses, mention it is a mobile number—some older booking systems expect a local code.
  • Incoming SMS from banks and apps arrive free worldwide, so keep this eSIM active if you are travelling onward after Estonia.
  • Download offline maps of Saaremaa and Hiiumaa islands before heading to areas with patchy coverage; your data stays available, but signal strength varies.
  • Set your eSIM as the default line for calls and SMS so outgoing communication uses your Voice plan rather than your home SIM.
  • Plan your data usage across the 30-day window—there is no refill, so heavy early use may leave you short at the end of a longer trip.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The Voice eSIM assigns a French (+33) mobile number. This number works fully in Estonia and across geographic Europe for outgoing calls, and receives incoming calls and SMS free anywhere in the world. It is not an Estonian local number, so callers dial the French prefix to reach you.
No. Outgoing calls and SMS are unlimited only while you are physically within geographic Europe. If you travel beyond the continent, outgoing service stops. Incoming calls and SMS, however, remain free worldwide—so people can still reach you.
Yes. Incoming calls and SMS do not cost anything and are not deducted from your allowance, regardless of where you are in the world. Callbacks from Estonian businesses and verification codes from your bank arrive at no charge whether you are in Tallinn or another continent.
No. The Voice eSIM cannot be refilled or topped up. When your data, minutes, or SMS are exhausted—or when the 30-day validity ends—the line closes permanently. Choose a plan size that covers your expected usage for the entire trip.
The entire line stops working—data, calls, and SMS all end. There is no extension or renewal option. If you need continued service, you would purchase a new eSIM before your current plan expires.
The eSIM connects to Elisa, Tele2, and Telia networks in Estonia. Your device selects the strongest available signal automatically as you move through the country.

Seamless global eSIM coverage

Get Started
The Estonia Voice eSIM bundles mobile data with a real phone number capable of calls and SMS. Outgoing calls and texts are unlimited while you are physically anywhere in geographic Europe—not limited to EU membership, but the continent itself. Incoming calls and SMS work differently: they reach you free of charge anywhere in the world, so callbacks from the ferry company and verification codes from your bank arrive whether you are in Tallinn, Tokyo, or Toronto. This plan fits travellers who must phone places that do not use apps—clinics, taxi dispatchers, ferry desks, rural accommodations. If your trip revolves around data for maps and messaging and you never expect to dial a landline or receive SMS codes, the standard data eSIM is lighter and often cheaper. But the moment you need someone to call you back or your airline sends boarding passes by text, the Voice plan earns its place. All Voice plans run for 30 days from activation. There is no option to refill or top up: once your data, minutes or SMS are exhausted—or the validity expires—the line closes. Plan your purchase around your trip length and expected usage. The number you receive is French (+33), not an Estonian local number, so anyone calling you dials that French prefix to reach you.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Find helpful information to answer your questions

Can I buy an eSIM for someone else as a gift?
Yes. Purchase the eSIM with your own details, then forward your order confirmation email - or share the "Install eSIM" link from it - with the recipient so they can install it on their own phone (the email contains the QR code and the manual SM-DP+ / activation codes). Make sure their device is eSIM-compatible first - installation usually cannot be reversed once completed.
What payment methods does eSIMno accept?
eSIMno accepts major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. All transactions are processed through secure encrypted gateways, and we don't store full card details on our servers.
Do I need to remove my eSIM after my trip?
You don't have to remove it. Once your data plan expires, the eSIM simply stops providing data. You can leave the dormant profile on your phone and reuse it next time by purchasing a new plan, or delete it from cellular settings to free up an eSIM slot.
What should I do if I lose my activation QR code?
You can't really lose it - your QR code is in your order confirmation email, and also in the install pop-up on the website. To reopen it any time before activation, tap "Install eSIM" in your order email, or sign in at esimno.com and go to Profile > My eSIMs > Install. Both show the QR code together with the one-tap install link and the manual SM-DP+ / activation code. Note the install codes are one-time-use: once the eSIM is installed on a device they can't be reused - reopen the installer (My eSIMs > Install) to display a fresh QR if you need one.
What happens if I pause my trip and return home?
Your eSIM keeps its validity period running whether you're using it or not - pausing your trip doesn't pause the timer. If you return home, the eSIM stays dormant on your device until you travel again or it expires. You can disable it in cellular settings to avoid accidental usage.
How do I activate the Estonia-voice eSIM?
Your eSIMno order confirmation email contains your QR code, your SM-DP+ address and activation code, a one-tap install link, and an "Install eSIM" button - so you can install right from the email. The same options are also on the website: sign in at esimno.com and go to Profile > My eSIMs > your plan > Install. To install, use any ONE of these methods: (1) on the phone you are setting up, tap the one-tap install link/button (iPhone on iOS 17.4+ or Android 9+); (2) use the QR code - because a phone cannot scan its own screen, show this QR on another screen (computer/tablet) or a printout and scan it WITH the phone you are setting up (never with someone else's phone, or the eSIM would install on that phone); or (3) enter the SM-DP+ address and activation code manually. Your Estonia-voice eSIM activates automatically when you connect to a local network at your destination.
Does the eSIM work on cruise ships or airplanes?
eSIMs use ground-based cellular networks, so they don't work in flight or at sea outside coastal coverage. They activate as soon as you connect to a partner network on land. For in-flight or maritime data, you'll need the airline or ship's onboard Wi-Fi.
Can I use my SIM card and eSIM at the same time?
Yes. On dual-SIM devices (most modern iPhones and Android phones), you can run your physical SIM and the eSIM simultaneously. Use your home SIM for calls and SMS, and the eSIM for mobile data. Keep in mind that leaving your home SIM active may trigger roaming charges if you use it for calls or texts abroad.
Can I switch the eSIM to a different phone after activation?
Generally no. Once an eSIM is activated on a device, it's tied to that device. If you switch phones, you'll need to install a new eSIM. Some carriers offer eSIM transfer features, but eSIMno plans don't currently support transfer between devices.
Can I use the eSIM for my smartwatch?
Some smartwatches (Apple Watch Cellular, Samsung Galaxy Watch LTE) support eSIM, but they typically require a plan from your home carrier rather than a travel eSIM. eSIMno plans are designed for phones and tablets - check device compatibility before purchase if you intend to use a wearable.
How can I verify if my eSIM is activated?
There are two clear indicators: (1) your phone's status bar shows the local carrier name once you arrive at your destination, and (2) the data icon (4G, LTE, or 5G) appears next to the eSIMno line in your cellular settings. If neither shows up, toggle airplane mode off and on, or restart your phone.
What happens when my data plan runs out?
When you use up your data allowance, your connection stops until you top up or purchase a new plan. You can top up directly from the eSIMno Center while connected to Wi-Fi, or buy a new plan if your validity period has expired.
