Isle of Man Voice eSIM: Calls, SMS & Data on One Plan

Heritage railway tickets on the Isle of Man sell by phone only, and the B&B in Port Erin confirms your arrival time through a landline callback. eSIMno Voice plans give you a real mobile number with unlimited outgoing calls and SMS throughout geographic Europe, while incoming calls and SMS reach you free anywhere in the world—so that ferry desk or clinic can always get through.

How to Get Your eSIM

  1. Purchase Your Plan
Select the data allowance that matches your trip. You'll receive your eSIM QR code by email within minutes.
  2. Scan and Install
Open your phone's eSIM settings and scan the QR code. Label the plan for easy identification—'Isle of Man Voice' works well.
  3. Activate on Arrival
Enable data roaming and set the eSIM as your active line. Your French phone number becomes immediately usable for outgoing and incoming calls.
  4. Save Your New Number
Share your +33 number with anyone who needs to reach you—guesthouses, tour operators, or family back home.

How the Voice Plan Works

Your Voice eSIM assigns you a French mobile number that works for both calls and SMS. Outgoing calls and texts are unlimited while you're physically located anywhere in geographic Europe—this covers the Isle of Man, the UK, Ireland, and every country from Portugal to Finland to Greece. Step outside Europe and outgoing service stops.

Incoming calls and SMS follow different rules: they're free and reach you anywhere in the world. Someone dialling your +33 number connects whether you're in Douglas, Dubai, or back home. This matters for callbacks—give your number to the steam railway booking office, and their return call arrives at no charge regardless of where you've travelled next.

SMS verification codes from banks, airlines, and apps arrive on this number too, solving the common problem of being locked out of accounts while abroad.

Incoming calls reach you free anywhere—even when you've moved on from the Isle of Man.

Is This Plan Right for You?

The Voice plan earns its place when phone calls matter to your trip. If you're booking heritage railways, confirming ferry crossings, coordinating with guesthouses that don't use WhatsApp, or expecting callbacks from local services, this plan handles it. It also solves SMS verification—your bank or airline can text codes to a number that actually receives them abroad. Anyone who needs to reach you by phone can dial your +33 number from anywhere.

If your trip runs on data alone—messaging apps, email, maps, social media—the standard data-only eSIM costs less and gives you more gigabytes. Voice calling goes unused for many travellers, and there's no reason to pay for it if a Wi-Fi call or WhatsApp message handles every situation you'll face. Be honest about whether you'll actually dial a number.

Traveller Tips

  • Save your +33 number in your own contacts so you can share it quickly when a booking agent asks for a callback number.
  • Give your French number to accommodation hosts before arrival—they'll reach you for door codes or late check-in coordination.
  • Test an outgoing call shortly after activation to confirm the line works before you need it urgently.
  • Keep your home SIM installed as a secondary profile if your phone supports dual eSIM—useful for identity verification that specifically requires your original number.
  • Remember that outgoing calls stop working if you leave geographic Europe, but incoming calls remain free worldwide.
  • Since top-ups aren't available, consider your calling patterns when choosing between the 20GB, 50GB, or 100GB plan.

Before you buy

  • Your number is French (+33) and it is not permanent — it changes roughly every 30 days.
  • Verification codes arrive fine during your trip. But don't set this as your permanent number for two-factor authentication or WhatsApp: when it changes, you can lose access to that account.
  • There is no top-up. When the plan ends the line closes — a new plan means a new eSIM to install and a new number.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The Voice eSIM provides a French (+33) mobile number rather than a local Manx number. This allows unlimited outgoing calls and SMS across all of geographic Europe, not just the Isle of Man. Anyone needing to reach you simply dials your +33 number—calls and SMS to this number reach you free anywhere in the world.
No, the Voice eSIM cannot be refilled or topped up. When your data allowance is exhausted or the 30-day validity period ends, the line closes permanently. If you need continued service, you'll need to purchase a new plan.
Yes. Incoming calls and SMS are free and reach you anywhere in the world, not just within Europe. If you fly home or travel to another continent, people can still reach you by dialling your +33 number at no charge to you.
Outgoing calls and SMS are unlimited only while you're physically in geographic Europe. If you leave Europe, you won't be able to make outgoing calls or send SMS until you return. Incoming calls and SMS continue to work worldwide.
Yes. SMS messages arrive on your French number just like regular texts, and incoming SMS is free worldwide. You can use this number for verification codes from banks, airlines, and apps while travelling.
The Voice eSIM connects to GO and Melita networks on the Isle of Man. Your device will automatically select the strongest available signal from these operators.

Seamless global eSIM coverage

Get Started
The Isle of Man Voice eSIM combines mobile data with a working phone number, letting you make and receive real calls and SMS. Outgoing calls and texts are unlimited while you're physically within geographic Europe—this includes the Isle of Man along with the rest of the British Isles, Scandinavia, the Mediterranean, and everywhere in between. Incoming calls and SMS work differently: they're free of charge and reach you anywhere in the world, not just Europe. That means a taxi firm in Douglas can call you back whether you're still on the island, connecting through London, or already home. This plan fits travellers who need phone-based contact: booking heritage experiences, confirming guesthouse arrivals, coordinating with tour operators, or receiving SMS verification codes from banks and apps. If your trip runs entirely on messaging apps and you never dial a number, the standard data-only eSIM costs less and may suit you better. But when a clinic only takes phone bookings or a ferry office won't reply to email, data alone won't solve the problem. The line runs for 30 days from activation and cannot be refilled or extended. Once your data allowance runs out or validity ends, the number closes permanently. Plan your purchase around your actual travel dates, and if you expect heavy calling beyond a month, you'll need a fresh plan rather than a top-up.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Find helpful information to answer your questions

How do I delete an eSIM I no longer need?
On iPhone: Settings > Cellular > tap the eSIM line > Remove eSIM. On Android: Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs > tap the eSIM > Erase. Deleting the eSIM frees up a profile slot. Make sure you don't need it anymore - once deleted, you can't reinstall the same profile.
Is unlimited data really unlimited?
Unlimited plans provide unlimited data at high speed (4G/5G) up to a fair-use threshold defined per plan. Beyond that threshold, speeds may be reduced to 128 Kbps for the remainder of the validity period - still usable for messaging and basic browsing, but slower for streaming and video calls.
How do I activate the Isle-of-man-voice eSIM?
Your eSIMno order confirmation email contains your QR code, your SM-DP+ address and activation code, a one-tap install link, and an "Install eSIM" button - so you can install right from the email. The same options are also on the website: sign in at esimno.com and go to Profile > My eSIMs > your plan > Install. To install, use any ONE of these methods: (1) on the phone you are setting up, tap the one-tap install link/button (iPhone on iOS 17.4+ or Android 9+); (2) use the QR code - because a phone cannot scan its own screen, show this QR on another screen (computer/tablet) or a printout and scan it WITH the phone you are setting up (never with someone else's phone, or the eSIM would install on that phone); or (3) enter the SM-DP+ address and activation code manually. Your Isle-of-man-voice eSIM activates automatically when you connect to a local network at your destination.
Will my home phone number receive calls while I use the eSIM?
Yes - if your home SIM stays installed and active, calls and SMS to your home number arrive normally. On a data-only plan the eSIM carries data and your voice service stays on your home line. On a voice plan the eSIM line has its own calling and SMS in addition to your home number. Either way, remember that incoming calls and texts to your home number while abroad may trigger roaming charges from your home carrier.
Can I share data from my eSIM with someone else's phone?
Yes, through Personal Hotspot. Activate hotspot on your phone, share the password, and the other device connects to your data. Data used by connected devices counts toward your eSIM plan, so monitor usage to avoid running out faster than expected.
Will the eSIM work on my iPad?
Yes, if your iPad model supports eSIM. iPad Pro (3rd generation and later), iPad Air (3rd generation and later), iPad mini (5th generation and later), and standard iPad (7th generation and later with cellular) all support eSIM. Installation works the same way as on iPhone.
Should I enable data roaming for the eSIM?
Yes - you must enable data roaming for the eSIM line, even though there are no roaming charges. The eSIM connects to a local partner network and your phone treats this as roaming. Enable it: iPhone > Settings > Cellular > eSIMno line > Data Roaming ON; Android > Settings > Network > SIMs > eSIMno > Roaming ON. This setting only affects the eSIM, not your home SIM.
When should I set up my eSIM?
A Wi-Fi connection is required to install your eSIM, so we recommend setting it up before you leave home. Activation can happen later, either right before departure or after you land at your destination - but the initial QR scan needs Wi-Fi.
Will I get notifications when my data is running low?
Yes. eSIMno sends email and push notifications when you've used 50%, 80%, and 100% of your data allowance. You can also check usage anytime in the eSIMno Center or in your phone's cellular settings to track consumption in real time.
Can I buy an eSIM for someone else as a gift?
Yes. Purchase the eSIM with your own details, then forward your order confirmation email - or share the "Install eSIM" link from it - with the recipient so they can install it on their own phone (the email contains the QR code and the manual SM-DP+ / activation codes). Make sure their device is eSIM-compatible first - installation usually cannot be reversed once completed.
Can I extend my eSIM plan validity?
The validity of a package that is already running cannot be extended, but you can top up: a top-up adds a new package with its own data AND its own validity days. Packages run one at a time - the top-up waits in queue and activates automatically when your current package ends (data used up or days expired), and its own days start counting from that moment. In practice this keeps you connected longer, even though the current package's own end date does not move.
Does the eSIM work in rural areas and small towns?
Coverage depends on the partner network's reach in Isle-of-man-voice. Major cities, tourist areas, and highways typically have strong 4G/5G coverage. Remote rural areas may have weaker signal or fall back to 3G. Download offline maps before heading off the beaten path.
