Use your 1 GB daily high-speed allowance freely, knowing the connection stays live even after it slows down.
How the Unlimited Plan Works
Every calendar day, your Portugal Unlimited eSIM provides 1 GB of high-speed data. Use it for navigation, web browsing, social media, photo uploads, or anything else that demands fast throughput. Once you exhaust that 1 GB, the connection does not stop — it slows to 128 Kbps and remains active until the daily reset.
At 128 Kbps, you can still load map routes, send WhatsApp messages, check email and look up restaurant reviews. Video streaming, video calls and large downloads will not function properly at this speed. The daily allowance resets at 00:00 UTC; that is a fixed moment in UTC, not midnight where you are, so check your phone's UTC offset if you plan around it.
This is a data-only service. There is no phone number, no voice calls and no SMS. If you need to make or receive calls during your trip, the Portugal Voice adds a working number with calls and SMS capability.

Is This Plan Right for You?
The Portugal Unlimited eSIM fits travellers who use their phone primarily for navigation and quick information lookups. If you spend the day driving between towns, walking historic neighbourhoods with your map open, and searching for opening hours or reviews, this plan keeps you connected without anxiety about hitting zero. The fallback speed handles exactly those tasks: maps, messaging and text-based searches.
This plan is not the best choice if you stream video regularly, rely on video calls for work, or need service beyond 7 days. It also cannot be topped up — when validity ends, the line closes. For trips lasting more than a week, or for heavy data users who need sustained high speeds, explore the Portugal for standard data bundles with longer validity and higher total allowances. Those plans offer more flexibility when your usage pattern does not fit the daily-reset structure.
Traveller Tips
- Download offline maps for Portugal before departure — they use less data when navigating and work even when signal is weak in rural areas.
- The 128 Kbps fallback speed works well for WhatsApp text and voice notes but struggles with sending photos; queue image uploads for when high-speed data refreshes.
- Install your eSIM while still on home Wi-Fi so you arrive ready to connect without hunting for a network at the airport.
- Keep your phone's UTC clock widget visible if you want to anticipate when your daily 1 GB resets.
- Tethering uses data quickly — if you plan to share your connection with a laptop, monitor your remaining high-speed allowance.
- For trips longer than 7 days, purchase a standard data plan instead of chaining multiple unlimited bundles.
