How to Get Your eSIM
- Purchase Your Plan
Select from 1, 3, 5, or 7-day validity options. You will receive your eSIM QR code by email within minutes. - Scan and Install
Open your device settings, add a new eSIM, and scan the QR code. Installation takes about two minutes and can be done before you leave home. - Activate on Arrival
Enable the eSIM data line when you land in Italy. Your device connects to Vodafone or Wind Tre automatically. - Manage Your Usage
Track your daily high-speed quota in your device settings. After 1 GB, speed drops but the connection stays live.
How the Unlimited Plan Works
Each day you get 1 GB of high-speed data on Vodafone or Wind Tre networks. Use it however you like—uploading photos, syncing files, running a hotspot for your laptop. Once that 1 GB is gone, your connection drops to 128 Kbps for the rest of the day.
At 128 Kbps, you can still load maps, send text messages on WhatsApp or iMessage, and receive emails. Video streaming and video calls will not work at this speed—plan accordingly. The daily allowance resets at 00:00 UTC, giving you a fresh 1 GB.
This is a data-only eSIM. There is no phone number attached, which means no voice calls and no SMS. If you need to make calls or receive verification codes via SMS, consider the Italy Voice plan, which includes a working Italian number.
Stay Connected While You Work

Is This Plan Right for You?
The Italy Unlimited plan works well when you have heavy but concentrated data needs. If you upload large photo batches during meals and check maps throughout the day, the 1 GB high-speed quota plus the 128 Kbps backup handles that pattern comfortably. Travellers who tether occasionally, sync cloud documents, or use navigation heavily will find the unlimited backup connection reassuring—you are never fully offline.
This plan is less suited if you stream video regularly, take frequent video calls, or need consistent high-speed access across a full day. The 128 Kbps fallback keeps basic functions alive but will frustrate bandwidth-heavy activities. If your trip runs longer than 7 days, the Unlimited family will require multiple purchases; you may prefer the Italy page for standard data bundles with extended validity instead.
When Unlimited Fits
Photo and video uploaders who work in bursts. Travellers who want navigation backup at all times. Anyone anxious about hitting zero data mid-journey.
When Standard Data Fits Better
Trips longer than one week. Steady video streaming or calling needs. Light users who will not approach 1 GB daily anyway.
Traveler Tips
- Queue your large uploads during high-speed hours—once speed drops to 128 Kbps, transfers stall or fail on big files.
- Download offline maps for your Italian destinations before your trip; the 128 Kbps backup loads map tiles slowly.
- The daily quota resets at 00:00 UTC. Check your phone's UTC offset so you know when fresh data arrives relative to local time.
- Since there is no top-up option, consider buying the 7-day plan even for shorter trips if you expect heavy upload days.
- Keep your home SIM installed for any SMS verification codes—this eSIM has no phone number and cannot receive texts.
- Test the eSIM installation at home over Wi-Fi before departure; troubleshooting is easier with a stable connection.
