Switzerland Unlimited eSIM – Daily Data with Endless Backup

Batch-uploading drone footage from a ridge above Zermatt while your hiking group waits — that cloud sync cannot pause for hotel wifi six hours away. The eSIMno Switzerland Unlimited plan gives you 1 GB of high-speed data every day, then drops to 128 Kbps instead of cutting you off. Honest limits, honest backup, no nasty surprises mid-upload.

How to Get Your eSIM

  1. Purchase and receive your QR code
Select the validity that matches your trip. Your eSIM QR code arrives by email within minutes.
  2. Scan and install before departure
Open your device settings, add the eSIM by scanning the QR code, and label it for easy identification. Install while you still have wifi.
  3. Activate when you land in Switzerland
Enable data roaming on your new eSIM line. The plan starts when the network first connects, so wait until arrival to switch it on.
  4. Monitor your daily usage
Your 1 GB high-speed quota resets at 00:00 UTC each day. After that gigabyte, you stay connected at 128 Kbps until the next reset.

How the Unlimited Plan Works

Each day of your plan, you receive 1 GB of high-speed data on the Salt or Sunrise network. Use it for uploads, navigation, video calls — whatever you need. Once you exhaust that gigabyte, your speed drops to 128 Kbps for the remainder of the day. The connection stays active; only the speed changes.

At 00:00 UTC, your high-speed allowance resets and you have another full gigabyte. That is a fixed moment in UTC, not midnight where you are, so check your phone's UTC offset if you plan around it.

Be realistic about 128 Kbps. It handles Google Maps directions, WhatsApp messages, and basic email without trouble. It does not support video streaming, large downloads, or VoIP calls. This slowdown is the trade-off that lets the plan stay unlimited — your line never cuts off, but heavy use after the quota means patience.

Is This Plan Right for You?

The Switzerland Unlimited plan fits travellers who value always-on connectivity over raw speed. If you upload photos and video throughout the day and can accept slower transfers after 1 GB, this plan keeps you online without rationing. It suits backup-conscious users who hate seeing a zero balance and scrambling for public wifi. Hikers, content creators, and remote workers who tether occasionally will find the daily reset reliable.

This plan does not fit everyone. If you stream video for hours, join lengthy video conferences, or need to make voice calls over your data line, the 128 Kbps fallback will frustrate you — and there is no phone number at all. If your trip exceeds 7 days, the maximum validity here, you should explore the Switzerland for standard data bundles with longer terms. And if you need calls and SMS with a working Swiss number, the Switzerland Phone Number eSIM is the product you actually want.

Traveler Tips

  • Set your large uploads to start early in the day while you have full-speed data — let smaller syncs trickle through on 128 Kbps later.
  • Download offline maps for Swiss hiking trails before you leave wifi; at reduced speed, map tiles load slowly in remote valleys.
  • The plan cannot be refilled. If you run out of validity mid-trip, you must purchase a new eSIM entirely.
  • Keep your home SIM installed but disabled for data — you can still receive SMS verifications for banking apps over wifi.
  • 128 Kbps works well for messaging and email attachments under 1 MB; queue anything larger for your next high-speed window.
  • Install and test the eSIM before boarding your flight to Switzerland — troubleshooting is easier with your home wifi still available.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Your connection continues at 128 Kbps until the next reset at 00:00 UTC. You are never cut off — only slowed down. At that speed you can use maps, send messages, and check email, but video streaming and VoIP calls will not work reliably.
No. The Switzerland Unlimited eSIM cannot be refilled or extended. When your selected validity ends, the line closes. If you need more days, you will need to purchase a new eSIM.
Yes, for lightweight tasks. Navigation apps, text-based messaging, and email work fine. Photo uploads will be slow but will complete. Video calls, streaming, and large downloads are not practical at this speed — plan those for your high-speed window.
No. This is a data-only eSIM with no phone number, no voice calls, and no SMS capability. If you need to make calls or receive texts, consider a voice plan instead.
Your 1 GB high-speed quota resets at 00:00 UTC each day. That is a fixed moment in UTC, not midnight where you are, so check your phone's UTC offset if you plan around it.
The longest Switzerland Unlimited plan is 7 days. For extended trips, a standard Switzerland data bundle with longer validity is a better choice. You can also purchase a second Unlimited eSIM, but each requires a fresh installation.
The Switzerland Unlimited eSIM delivers 1 GB of high-speed data each day on the Salt and Sunrise networks. Once you use that gigabyte, the connection slows to 128 Kbps for the rest of the day — but it never disconnects. At 00:00 UTC, your high-speed allowance resets; that is a fixed moment in UTC, not midnight where you are, so check your phone's UTC offset if you plan around it. This is a data-only line: there is no phone number, no voice calls, and no SMS. This plan suits travellers who need guaranteed connectivity more than guaranteed speed. If you upload large files throughout the day and can tolerate slower syncs after the first gigabyte, the unlimited backup keeps you online when a capped plan would leave you searching for wifi. However, if you stream video constantly or need to make voice calls, this is not the right product. The 128 Kbps fallback handles maps, messaging, and email — not HD video or VoIP. Practical limits apply. The line cannot be refilled or topped up; when your validity ends, the eSIM closes and you purchase a new one. The longest available plan is 7 days. For trips beyond a week, a standard data bundle with higher capacity and longer validity will serve you better. Every day you hold the plan, you receive the same 1 GB allowance — the quota does not roll over, and it does not accumulate.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Does my voice plan come with a phone number I can keep?
Your voice plan has its own phone number, and it is issued in France - so you get a French number even when the plan itself is for another country. It is not a permanent number and you cannot keep it: it changes roughly every 30 days. Voice plans also cannot be topped up, so when the plan ends you buy a new one, with a new eSIM to install and a different number. Please treat the number as something that belongs to the trip, not to you - if you need a number that stays yours for years, a voice eSIM is not the right product.
When should I set up my eSIM?
A Wi-Fi connection is required to install your eSIM, so we recommend setting it up before you leave home. Activation can happen later, either right before departure or after you land at your destination - but the initial QR scan needs Wi-Fi.
What should I do if I see a 'No network' message after activating my eSIM?
If you see a 'No network' message after activation, try these steps in order: (1) Toggle airplane mode on for 10 seconds, then off. (2) Confirm data roaming is enabled for the eSIM line. (3) Manually select a network in cellular settings. (4) Restart your phone. If the issue continues, contact eSIMno support via WhatsApp or email.
Can I share data from my eSIM with someone else's phone?
Yes, through Personal Hotspot. Activate hotspot on your phone, share the password, and the other device connects to your data. Data used by connected devices counts toward your eSIM plan, so monitor usage to avoid running out faster than expected.
Can I switch the eSIM to a different phone after activation?
Generally no. Once an eSIM is activated on a device, it's tied to that device. If you switch phones, you'll need to install a new eSIM. Some carriers offer eSIM transfer features, but eSIMno plans don't currently support transfer between devices.
Will I get notifications when my data is running low?
Yes. eSIMno sends email and push notifications when you've used 50%, 80%, and 100% of your data allowance. You can also check usage anytime in Profile > My eSIMs or in your phone's cellular settings to track consumption in real time.
What makes eSIMno different from other eSIM services?
eSIMno offers eSIM plans for 170+ countries on reliable local partner networks. The price at checkout is all you pay - no activation fee or roaming surcharge. Your eSIM arrives by email within minutes and only starts when it connects to a network at your destination; most plans can be topped up in Profile > My eSIMs, and if you haven't installed your eSIM, you can get a refund within 14 days.
Can I use the eSIM for my smartwatch?
Some smartwatches (Apple Watch Cellular, Samsung Galaxy Watch LTE) support eSIM, but they typically require a plan from your home carrier rather than a travel eSIM. eSIMno plans are designed for phones and tablets - check device compatibility before purchase if you intend to use a wearable.
Can I make phone calls or send SMS?
It depends on the plan you choose. Most eSIMno plans are data-only: on those you cannot place regular calls or send SMS from the eSIM line, but messaging and calling apps work normally over the data connection - WhatsApp, iMessage, FaceTime, Telegram, Signal and Google Meet. We also offer voice plans in selected destinations, and on those calling and SMS work from the eSIM line itself, which comes with its own French phone number and unlimited calling across Europe. Every plan card shows which type it is, so check the plan type before you buy. If you are looking at a voice plan, please also read who you can call and text, and what happens to the phone number - both are explained in their own questions below.
Can I extend my eSIM plan validity?
The validity of a package that is already running cannot be extended, but you can top up: a top-up adds a new package with its own data AND its own validity days. Packages run one at a time - the top-up waits in queue and activates automatically when your current package ends (data used up or days expired), and its own days start counting from that moment. In practice this keeps you connected longer, even though the current package's own end date does not move.
What happens when my voice or unlimited plan ends? Can I renew it?
These plans cannot be topped up or renewed. Once the allowance is used or the validity period ends, the line closes. To keep going you buy a new plan, and that gives you a new eSIM to install - on a voice plan it also gives you a new phone number. This is how our supplier provides voice and unlimited plans, so we would rather tell you up front than let you expect an automatic renewal that will not happen. We never renew these plans and charge you without asking.
Can I use the eSIM to make video calls?
Yes - apps like FaceTime, WhatsApp, Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams all work over your eSIM data. Video calls use about 200-400 MB per hour depending on quality, so factor that into your plan choice if you make long calls regularly.
